5) Be Kind. Give Compliments. Be polite & Respectful to Everyone.
These are quite a number of points put together, but yes, they are very important indeed. And pretty straightforward too. Again i read a quote once "If you want to feel good, do good" Do random acts of kindness, to put a smile on someone's face. Give compliments, to boost someone else's confidence! Be polite & Respectful to everyone, & i mean everyone. Even those you think are undeserving. What goes around comes around, & that pretty much says it all.
6) Speak only when you have something to say, & not when you just want to say something.
Can you see how all these points are related? What did we say about having a purpose for what you do ha? So this one's really important. The way you speak says alot about you and also determines how people respond and behave towards you. And the behavior of others towards you has an impact on your confidence level, let's face it (As much as i tell myself it doesn't matter what they do/say..it does, even if its a teeny little bit, it does.). Thus, be not of those who speak without first giving some thought, without carefully selecting your words, based on the point you are about to make, and the person or group of people you are about to address. The aim is to be reasonable and understandable. Make some sense when you speak and let the person(s) you are addressing be able to understand you. Most times i feel my confidence lifting higher when i feel I'm passing a reasonable message to an audience and they understand. Whoever they may be. And even in conversations. Don't just join in so your voice can be heard too, but so you can add something sensible to the table.
7) Have a sense of humor. At this point my hands are begging for mercy so I'll just type as little as possible, with hope that the point is clear. So yes, all I'm trying to say is Laugh a little, loosen up. Chip in something funny without fear of being judged or ridiculed. Lighten the conversation. It doesn't have to be thick and serious. But.... Remember it is no longer a joke when it involves lies and degrading others. Be careful not to cross the line.
8) Be humble.
I read somewhere, yet again that being humble isn't thinking less of yourself but actually thinking of yourself LESS! Yes! And that's just about it. "Oh this hair do looks good on me, this Car of mine is dope! I've got quite alot of knowledge or I'm such a great chef!" While complimenting yourself and being positive with yourself is great, here's what's even greater, making it less about you! You're humble if you don't think too much about what you have and how everyone ought to be wowed about it or think too much about what you don't have and how that makes you an incomplete human being but more about what you can do for others, what you can share with others, learn from others, etc. The less time you spend thinking of yourself, the less time you have to worry about whether you're meeting up to other people's expectations or not.
9) Be vast in knowledge.
I know no one is an ocean of knowledge and "Jack of all trade is Master of none". Yes, but there's nothing wrong with knowing a little bit about Everything if possible. It helps you get carried along in conversations and you can easily cook one up with just about anyone. Feeling left out because you don't understand what is being discussed has a toll on your confidence level. So help yourself with as much knowledge as possible; current trends, news, etc. So you can be actively involved and feel relevant in any gathering. But Yes, remember the previous points we've mentioned while at it.
10) Engage! Engage in the activities going on around you. The ones you can. Make an impact somewhere. "Make yourself useful" like my mother would often say and watch what that does to your confidence & Self-Esteem!
In the End, We are All Unique, Every single one of us has something to offer, and don't bother if someone else is shining, there's enough space in the sky for all stars to shine and You are a star! Let nothing anyone says or does make you think different!.
